Pledge

Jeremiah had a program at school Thursday night and it was so cute! His class and the other 3rd grade class sang songs. Of course my camera gave out half way through but I gave my email info to some other parents and hopefully they share. The interesting thing though was the next class up came in and sang as well but they also said the Pledge of Allegiance and on Friday Jeremiah got in the truck when I picked him up from school and said the Pledge of Allegiance word for word and sang a song that goes with it. He was so proud of himself and he was also proud that he had not had to go into timeout but ..... unfortunately his wife Macie Jo had. I asked him what MJ had to go into timeout for and he told be "because she was NOT listening." He then told me that he felt sad because she had to go sit in timeout and he went and sat with her. The teacher confirmed it. What a guy our little man is - he didn't leave the little woman hanging out in timeout by herself!

Jeremiah the writer

Well, Jeremiah is learning to write and we are having a good time! He told me the other day he wanted to learn to write N-o No. So we got some paper and a marker and he has learned to write N-o. Now we have moved on to his name - so far he can write J-e-r-e we are working on the "m" but it seems to be a little more difficult. I think he is doing great for a four year old though! He got a report card from Mom's Morning Out on Friday and he is meeting expectations on several things and exceeding on the rest so we are very proud of him!!! He is trying really hard and seems to want to learn something new everyday! Avery and I are going to have a hard time keeping up with that little mind of his! Please pray for us that we can keep him from getting bored!

Dinner with Jeremiah

While I was eating dinner with Jeremiah last night he reached into his pocket and pulled out a Buzz Lightyear ring. I asked him where he had gotten the ring and he said that Macie Jo had given it to him. Then he went on to tell me that she had given him a ring and they had gotten married. I asked him who had married them and he told me "Miss Nancy". Miss Nancy is the Director at the Mom's Morning Out where he goes. He then told me that he had a very new best friend in the whole wide world and I, of course, being a romantic said that I was sure Macie Jo would be a good best friend and he looked at me and said that Macie Jo wasn't his best friend she was his wife. His new best friend is Bryson and they are best buddies.

Needless to say my plans for Jeremiah's future are in ashes as he has elected to get married at such a young age (and I wasn't even able to be at the ceremony) so I am heartbroken. His grandfather, who previously occupied the best buddy status, is likewise heartbroken. Apparently we are dust in the wind. I am not sure that his dad, myself and his Paw-Paw will ever recover......

Jeremiah strikes again...

Well I have a few new updates on Jeremiah says....

At the mall to see Santa - standing in line.

Mama - Jeremiah do you know what you are going to tell Santa you want for Christmas?
Jeremiah - Yes, mama. I sure do.
Dada - Well, what are you going to tell him? (we are asking this because literally everything he has seen on television he has asked for from a Honda Accords to Depends and we are wondering if we need to rethink this and possibly reserve an afternoon of Santa's time.)
Jeremiah - I am going to ask for ..... I don't know let me think.

FINALLY - we reach Santa and Jeremiah climbs on his lap. The photographer is telling him to smile and Jeremiah says "No, wait I can't smile I have to tell Santa what I want for Christmas. " Jeremiah then looks at Santa Claus and says, "I want a Buzz Lightyear with a remote control." Santa dutifully repeats this and nodds his head. They both then smile for the photo op and Jeremiah gets down and starts to walk away but then he turns back and looks at Santa and says, "I want a Buzz Lightyear with remote control .... and you BETTER bring it!" I don't know about you - but if I were Santa I would have been afraid not to bring it from the look on Jeremiah's face. I had visions of a big hairy man with brass knuckles - I think we'll rename him Vinnie.

Scenario - Jeremiah and I are at the doctor's office - his allergies seem to be acting up. There is a man coming out of the bathroom with a little cup (apparently there is a suspicion of a kidney infection.) Jeremiah looks at me and asks if that is pee-pee in that cup (loudly). I tell him to be quiet and try to get him in the room, of course this is not going to happen right now without me literally scooping him up and shoving him in the room. He looks at the man and as I push him in the room asks the man why he pee-peed in that cup and is he going to drink it. I finally get him in the room and get the door shut. We are sitting there waiting for Jermiah's good friend Dr. Larsen to come in and one of the nurses walks in to speak to me. She has that little cup in her hand and I am keeping an eye on Jeremiah to see if he is going to spout off something but he just eyeballs the cup. Finally the nurse leaves and my guard is down. Dr. Larsen walks in and Jeremiah see's the owner of little cup walking by and he yells loudly "Hey man - man that lady stole your pee-pee!"

Last but not least (on the embarassment scale)

I have a new cellphone and it was not working correctly after only one day. I returned to the store and was waiting to exchange it. When we had been in previously the store owner, Mr. Mahmoud, has struck up a friendship with Jeremiah. They had a great deal of fun together and enjoyed picking on each other a great deal. So we are sitting there waiting for the new phone to get setup and Mr. Mahmoud walks in with his lunch. He speaks to us and then prepares to go into the back of the store (apparently to eat his lunch in peace). Jeremiah watches him and just as he gets to the door Jeremiah loudly says "Abra cadabra" and waves an imaginary wand. Well, Mr. Mahmoud walks into the back room and Jeremiah looks at me and doesn't blink an eye as he says very loudly and clearly, "Man, I made his hairy butt disappear!" There are moments in time when everything seems to just stop and words just seem to hang in the air - this was one of them. I could feel my mouth dropping open and my hair falling out of my head. The salesman we were working with had to turn his back so we couldn't see him laughing - I could hear roars of laughter coming out of the back room and customers were covering their mouths with their hands. I (of course) was speechless - yes ladies and gentlemen it does happen. I finally said I had no idea where he would have heard that but it was probably at Mom's Morning Out - and here is where bad goes to worse. Jeremiah looks at me and says, "No mama, that's what you always say to Daddy when you are calling him - Avery you better get your hairy butt in here! You mean that nice don't you?" At that point I knew I was licked and there was no recovery .....

Happy Halloween! (late)

Well since we live out in the country and not in a neighborhood we couldn't really take Jeremiah to neighbor's houses so we opted instead to take him to Trunk or Treat at our church. He had a great time and we had fun decorating the back of our vehicle (since we have an SUV and not a car) like a haunted house. He was very brave and went to every car there (even one really scary one that looked like a shark's mouth and played the theme from Jaws). Then he went inside and played games and got a hole-in-one in the games and got a strike on the pumpkin bowling! We left there and went to the local VFD and went through their Trunk or Treat (collecting yet more candy) and telling everyone that he was Woody and there was a snake in his boot! He was a hit - everyone there was asking him about the snake in his boot and laughing because he would tell them there was a snake in his boot and then he would stomp his foot vigorously on the ground. He also told one of the firemen that attempted to scare him that he was a "Stinky Pete" and he wasn't scared of him. I am attaching a couple of pictures of his Mom's Morning out group and his costume. In case you hadn't guessed he was Woody from Toy Story!

Jeremiah and the one that got away (NOT)!!!!

Finally one photo from Toy Story on ice. This is the one we had made there and the one that I can't believe is my son! He has grown so much I can't believe it! I am also posting pictures of his trout fishing expedition and you can see the one's he caught! I think he went into shock when he pulled the first one out but he managed to catch 3 more! So much fun for him and Dad!

Jeremiah and the Toy Story Gang

Well we survived Toy Story but we almost froze! We were actually sitting on the ice about 6" from the skaters (we got hit with ice a couple of times). We took a blanket and jackets and dressed in what we thought were warm clothes - didn't matter! We froze - I lost the feeling in my feet just before intermission. Having had my few seconds of moaning and groaning - I am done.

Jeremiah was absolutely captivated!!!! There is a large screen on the scoreboard at the arena and Jeremiah thought that was the show. When the lights went out and the characters started skating out - I think he actually went into shock! Poor little guy - I don't think he blinked until intermission. Hamm actually skated over and put his face right up against our hands! Jeremiah reached out and said "Not today Evil Dr Porkchop!" then he just started giggling and laughing. It was hilarious. We had a late dinner after the show and Jeremiah had to tell everyone that he had been to see Toy Story 3 and that he got to pet Hamm/Evil Dr. Porkchop.

We had his picture made with Woody and Buzz figures and my heart gave a jump - he looks so much older than the little boy who rode home with us from Guatemala a little over 2 years ago. In the picture is a little boy who looks about 6 years old!!! I almost asked the photographer whose child that was but it was Jeremiah. He is growing so fast sometimes it's like if I blink I miss something really important. I keep thinking about that song from Armageddon - I don't want to close my eyes, I don't want to fall asleep cause I miss you baby and I don't want to miss a thing. I really don't want to miss a thing but he is constantly changing and evolving. He just changed Mom's Morning Out schools and we were concerned but he went in the first day like a champ and told me when I picked him up that he loved it! At this school we pull up and the director opens the door and helps them out and then they go into a fenced in area and walk up a sidewalk (with many teachers outside assisting of course) and then into the doors of the school and to their classroom. They have individual name tags and they have to take their name tags off the wall and put them in the basket when they get there. It is building independence and he is very proud of himself that he gets to go in like a "big boy" without Mom or Dad holding his hand.

I forgot our camera but we picked up one at the arena and I will see if I can add some photos!

Toy Story here we come!!!!!!

Well we haven't told Jeremiah but the G's have tickets to Toy Story on ice tonight! We have front row seats so we are right on the ice - it promises to be a chilly evening!

Jeremiah LOVES Toy Story - he even wanted to be Woody for Halloween! So his Paw-Paw and Maw-Maw have bought him a Woody costume for Halloween! I am tempted to let him wear the costume tonight to see the show (so he can really get in the mood!).

I am sure there will be several thousand screaming kids there so say a prayer for Avery and I. It looks like it's going to be a WILD evening! I don't think we can take cameras in to the arena but we are going to try and take some pics with our cell phones - hopefully I can post them. We are taking a camera just in case.

More Later!!!!!!!

Who's in Charge???!!!!

Well more Jeremiahisms here. Conversation overheard by myself -

Avery to Jeremiah "Jeremiah you need to pick up these toys."
Jeremiah to Avery "I will Daddy just a minute I need to mumble mumble mumble" (indiscernable)
Avery to Jeremiah "Jeremiah you don't need to do anything but pick up these toys like I asked you to. I'm the Daddy and I'm in charge here so you need to pick up and I don't need to hear what you need to do first! (this is obviously important picking up t0 be honest Avery was getting him ready to go to Mom's Morning Out so they were on a deadline)

and here it comes - wait for it....you are about to hear the greated comeback ever - drumroll please....

Jeremiah to Avery "No Daddy I'm Mama and (voice gets 10 decibels higher) I'M IN CHARGE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(please give me bonus points for not laughing when this was said)

For those of you who had any doubts I guess we know who the lead dog is around here!

Jeremiah says....

I'm stealing a page from our friends Amanda and Gabi here and I have also taken a suggestion from multiple friends who recommended I start a diary of funny things Jeremiah says (thank you Miss Diane and Miss Georgeann). Here are three for your enjoyment....

scenario: riding in the car with PawPaw and MawMaw. MawMaw is venting over one of Great-Grandmothers doctors and going on for sometime (or so apparently Jeremiah feels)

MawMaw: (sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher) whompwhompwhompwhomp
Jeremiah: Hey hey hey MawMaw - just give it a rest.
MawMaw: Jeremiah that is not very nice and you shouldn't say that to other people. :)

scenario: Jeremiah is walking through our den just as a commerical for Billy the Exterminator comes on and Billy says "Holy Crap!!!!"

Jeremiah: Mama what did Billy say?
Mama: I'm not going to repeat it but it wasn't nice and we don't say it.
Jeremiah: What did Billy say Mama?
Mama: Okay Jeremiah I will say it but you need to understand that it is not nice and we don't say it. Billy said "Holy Crap" which is NOT nice and we DON'T say it!

Later at dinner Jeremiah looks at me and says, "Mama why can't we say Howdy Crab?"
Mama (after I pick myself up off the floor from laughing) Jeremiah you CAN say Howdy Crab to any crab you meet.

scenario: I am doing dishes in the kitchen with arms up to my elbows in dishwater and I hear suspicious sounds coming from the bathroom. The potty chair is moving around quite a bit and there is water running.

Mama: Jeremiah what are you doing?
Jeremiah: whomp whomp whomp whomp (Charlie Browns teacher again)
Mama: Jeremiah I can't hear you what are you doing?
Jeremiah: (says something at decibel level to high to be understood.)
Mama (dries off her hands and starts towards the bathroom) Jeremiah Avery Gosney I asked you what you are doing??!!
Jeremiah (jumping out of the bathroom and placing right hand on his hip and shaking finger at me) I tell you one time and I tell you two times I AM CLEANING OUT MY POTTY!!!!! and I don't want to have to tell you again (walks away shaking head and muttering, "I tell you over and over again)

Its soooo humbling to see your three and a half year old do such a great impression of you - lets me know EXACTLY what I look like when I tell him the same thing.

Future Olympian and Toy Story Spokesperson

Well let me say just one thing - Jeremiah loves two things exceedingly! One is .... Toy Story and the other is the water. We hear Toy Story, Woody and Buzz all the time and depending on the day he is either Woody or Buzz. Miss Carol at Mom's Morning Out tells us she doesn't know which he is but he always lets her know as soon as he gets there. He is working on writing his name and can print J-e-r-e so hopefully m-i-a-h is not far behind and he loves singing his ABC's. He also loves singing "Jeremiah was a Bullfrog" and entertains people everywhere we go with his rendition of it. I had to change some of the words to fit for him - instead of wine his version has juice etc. I am not sure 3 Dog Night would be impressed but it works for us!

We went to visit Jeremiah's "Great" Uncle Steve for his birthday (I won't say which one out of respect for the elderly) but they have a pool and Jeremiah immediately made himself at home in the pool. He is actually starting swim lessons on July 10th but we were happy to see he enjoyed the water so much!!! He is off to a good start even before the first lesson. He is also starting karate classes this coming Saturday and he is running around the house karate chopping and yelling "He Yah" very loudly. Please say a prayer for us as I am not sure we are ready for this but he is very excited about both! I am including photos of him with his fave Toy Story friends and his Toy Story tent and the pool at Uncle Steve and Aunt Jackie's.

Its Official

Well we returned from Avery's driving competition on Saturday and we had a message on our answering machine. I am starting back to school!!!!! I have been unemployed for over a year now and even though I am enjoying the time with Jeremiah and watching him grow we have been looking into schools we want to send him to and I need to go back to work in order to send him there. Soooooooo - I have decided on a career change and I am going back to school to prepare for that! Its exciting since I haven't been in a classroom in a long time but I am looking forward to it! I will only have to be in class one day a week for 6 hours but then I will basically be doing labs the other 4 days of the week!!! This is a career that hopefully will allow me to work out of my house so that I can be available when Jeremiah gets home from school but we are thinking that by the time I finish training I can then start working and be ready to work from home in a couple of years when he is in school. Everyone please say a prayer for us since as I said its been a long time since I have been in a classroom!

On another note Jeremiah finally got a haircut the day we left for the competition and it was a fight all the way but my hat is off to the woman who cut it - despite all his fussing and yelling he has a very nice haircut AND she told him to come back and see her again! Now if we could just get him to let us trim his fingernails and toenails......

We are working on the potty training but its been an uphill battle all the way - there are so many other things he would rather do. He will go to the potty and use it but he is just as likely to do it in his big boy pants. We have been told to take him out of training pants and put him in regular underwear - anyone have any suggestions? Please feel free to chime in!

He is growing like a weed and wants to take karate classes but they have said not until he is potty trained so we are hoping thats incentive! He is big into Woody and Buzz and Buzz has a karate chop function so hopefully classes will entice him to use the potty (I have heard girls are easier than boys and it MUST be true because everyone I know that has little girls agrees that they weren't this hard to train!). I hope we won't be packing him off for college with clothes and depends!!!!!!

Jeremiah in the snow

Well we have had some snow here in the month of February and I have a few photos of Jeremiah in the snow. Our Christmas photos are lost forever it appears due to a malfunction with our memory card so all we will have of this Christmas is our memories of Jeremiah finding his "Christmas". He was so excited and kept saying "I got new toys and got to keep the old ones too!". He has gotten very expressive and we are hearing so many things these days - it is like there is something new everyday. He told me the other day that I needed to be quiet because he had something to say - please. We also hear "I DO IT MYSELF!!!!!!!" all the time! He has very definite ideas about things and he is sure he is at least 20 something! He wants to be a big boy so bad!

He is obsessed with "Toy Story" these days and all we hear is he is either "Woody" Jeremiah or "Buzz" Jeremiah. How funny!!!! He also celebrated a birthday in January and we had bad weather on his birthday. We are hoping there is better weather for his "Gotcha" day!

I am still job hunting - have had some interesting interviews in the last month but nothing yet. We are grateful to everyone who has been praying for us - as of today I am officially unemployed for one year and God has blessed us richly by taking such good care of us. We pray daily for his continued benevolence. I pointed the other day that since Jeremiah came into our lives I have spent less than 4 months working. Several people have said that apparently God has intended for me to have this time and truthfully I have enjoyed spending this year with him - I know it is time I will NEVER regret. Please everyone continue to keep us in your prayers.

Christmas time is upon us!!!!!

Well the holidays are here and Jeremiah and the rest of the family have all been busy getting ready. We decorated the tree (quite an interesting feat with Jeremiah's help - he wanted all the ornaments below 4 feet. So far he has been pretty good about not pulling things off but he checks everyday to make sure the tree is still there.

We visited the mall this past weekend and told Santa Claus what we wanted. Can you guess what it might have been???? When Santa asked him what he wanted he said "Chocolate cake and a Diego book!!!!". If we had only known we could have saved ourselves a lot of shopping!!!!!

The last two days haven't been very pretty here - overcast, foggy and cool so we took the opportunity today to make Gingerbread House (compliments of a kit from Walmart). He did pretty good - only wanted to eat the Christmas tree that came with it but finally decided the house needed a Christmas tree and abstained (I was proud of him!). Hope everyone out there has a safe, happy and healthy holiday - photos of Christmas party with Great-Grandmother will be the next thing we post!!!

More photos

Sorry folks but I had to make a second entry for the birthday photos.....as you can see from the first picture Paw-Paw is Jeremiah's buddy!!!

Halloween and Birthdays!

Jeremiah was sick at Halloween time this year with a sinus infection and ear infection so we elected not to go out trick or treating because of the weather and since we are "in the country" and not in a subdivision we don't get trick or treaters so we went to the church activity Fall Festival (where my camera died). I have a couple of pictures of him in costume (he absolutely loves Diego and now calls himself Diego Jeremiah).

My Dad celebrated his birthday on November 5 and our friend Betty B joined Jeremiah and myself and Jeremiah's Granny in celebrating at the Olive Garden. I am adding some pictures of Jeremiah "helping" with the cards and cake. Happy Birthday Dad/Paw-Paw!!!! We hope you have many more for us to celebrate!!!!

School pictures

We have been waiting for the proofs and have had trouble getting them delivered to our email, these were made in June but they are the latest professional pictures we have of Jeremiah.
The last one over to the right is my favorite but the photographer said there wasn't a bad one as far as he was concerned because Jeremiah was smiling in all of them. Don't you just want to squeeze those little cheeks???!!!!

Hot fun in the summertime

We have been enjoying the summer months together and we are seeing more and more of Jeremiah's personality as the days go by. He loves to laugh and be tickled and will come to you and say "Tickle Monster" which means that the tickle monster is supposed to come out and get him. He is tickleish all over and I love his laugh. Its a combination of shrieks and huh huh huh's that is too cute for words!

He weighs 37 pounds and is about 39 inches tall and seems to have 2 hollow legs. We are thinking of buying stock in one of the grocery store chains. He eats pretty much everything but bananas which he just doesn't like.

He loves to spend time with my Mom and Dad and will ask to go to Maw-Maw and Paw-Paws. He spends every Friday afternoon with them and I don't know who has more fun.

He is getting along well at Mom's morning out and even seems to have a girlfriend there. When I took him in this morning a little blonde curly top came running over screaming MiaMiah MiaMiah and do you he turned into such a guy right in front of me?! He looked at her and rolled his eyes and said very quietly "hey" picked up a toy and walked off. Talk about playing hard to get....

I am posting some miscellaneous photos and I am still looking for the adapter so we can load some video. He has one where he is "Shaking his Booty" that is pretty darn cute!!!!

Summertime

Well Jeremiah is enjoying the summertime life. He is swimming in the pool, playing in the backyard and just living large as the saying goes. He seems like he grows overnight literally and he is talking more and more. We hear lots of interesting things these days. He changed Mom's Morning Out locales recently and our little man is struggling with making the change but he seems to be acclimating and enjoying it. We went to Old Navy today and had a little bit of a shopping spree I am posting pictures of his new hat.
P.S. I have also attached photos of Jeremiah wearing my old Crocs (note that he put them on the wrong feet). He loves to put his Dad's shoes and my shoes on and clomp around the house in them. He is wearing a size 9 shoe now so he has a while to go before catching up with either one of us.....
