Happy Halloween! (late)

Well since we live out in the country and not in a neighborhood we couldn't really take Jeremiah to neighbor's houses so we opted instead to take him to Trunk or Treat at our church. He had a great time and we had fun decorating the back of our vehicle (since we have an SUV and not a car) like a haunted house. He was very brave and went to every car there (even one really scary one that looked like a shark's mouth and played the theme from Jaws). Then he went inside and played games and got a hole-in-one in the games and got a strike on the pumpkin bowling! We left there and went to the local VFD and went through their Trunk or Treat (collecting yet more candy) and telling everyone that he was Woody and there was a snake in his boot! He was a hit - everyone there was asking him about the snake in his boot and laughing because he would tell them there was a snake in his boot and then he would stomp his foot vigorously on the ground. He also told one of the firemen that attempted to scare him that he was a "Stinky Pete" and he wasn't scared of him. I am attaching a couple of pictures of his Mom's Morning out group and his costume. In case you hadn't guessed he was Woody from Toy Story!

Jeremiah and the one that got away (NOT)!!!!

Finally one photo from Toy Story on ice. This is the one we had made there and the one that I can't believe is my son! He has grown so much I can't believe it! I am also posting pictures of his trout fishing expedition and you can see the one's he caught! I think he went into shock when he pulled the first one out but he managed to catch 3 more! So much fun for him and Dad!

Jeremiah and the Toy Story Gang

Well we survived Toy Story but we almost froze! We were actually sitting on the ice about 6" from the skaters (we got hit with ice a couple of times). We took a blanket and jackets and dressed in what we thought were warm clothes - didn't matter! We froze - I lost the feeling in my feet just before intermission. Having had my few seconds of moaning and groaning - I am done.

Jeremiah was absolutely captivated!!!! There is a large screen on the scoreboard at the arena and Jeremiah thought that was the show. When the lights went out and the characters started skating out - I think he actually went into shock! Poor little guy - I don't think he blinked until intermission. Hamm actually skated over and put his face right up against our hands! Jeremiah reached out and said "Not today Evil Dr Porkchop!" then he just started giggling and laughing. It was hilarious. We had a late dinner after the show and Jeremiah had to tell everyone that he had been to see Toy Story 3 and that he got to pet Hamm/Evil Dr. Porkchop.

We had his picture made with Woody and Buzz figures and my heart gave a jump - he looks so much older than the little boy who rode home with us from Guatemala a little over 2 years ago. In the picture is a little boy who looks about 6 years old!!! I almost asked the photographer whose child that was but it was Jeremiah. He is growing so fast sometimes it's like if I blink I miss something really important. I keep thinking about that song from Armageddon - I don't want to close my eyes, I don't want to fall asleep cause I miss you baby and I don't want to miss a thing. I really don't want to miss a thing but he is constantly changing and evolving. He just changed Mom's Morning Out schools and we were concerned but he went in the first day like a champ and told me when I picked him up that he loved it! At this school we pull up and the director opens the door and helps them out and then they go into a fenced in area and walk up a sidewalk (with many teachers outside assisting of course) and then into the doors of the school and to their classroom. They have individual name tags and they have to take their name tags off the wall and put them in the basket when they get there. It is building independence and he is very proud of himself that he gets to go in like a "big boy" without Mom or Dad holding his hand.

I forgot our camera but we picked up one at the arena and I will see if I can add some photos!

Toy Story here we come!!!!!!

Well we haven't told Jeremiah but the G's have tickets to Toy Story on ice tonight! We have front row seats so we are right on the ice - it promises to be a chilly evening!

Jeremiah LOVES Toy Story - he even wanted to be Woody for Halloween! So his Paw-Paw and Maw-Maw have bought him a Woody costume for Halloween! I am tempted to let him wear the costume tonight to see the show (so he can really get in the mood!).

I am sure there will be several thousand screaming kids there so say a prayer for Avery and I. It looks like it's going to be a WILD evening! I don't think we can take cameras in to the arena but we are going to try and take some pics with our cell phones - hopefully I can post them. We are taking a camera just in case.

More Later!!!!!!!

Who's in Charge???!!!!

Well more Jeremiahisms here. Conversation overheard by myself -

Avery to Jeremiah "Jeremiah you need to pick up these toys."
Jeremiah to Avery "I will Daddy just a minute I need to mumble mumble mumble" (indiscernable)
Avery to Jeremiah "Jeremiah you don't need to do anything but pick up these toys like I asked you to. I'm the Daddy and I'm in charge here so you need to pick up and I don't need to hear what you need to do first! (this is obviously important picking up t0 be honest Avery was getting him ready to go to Mom's Morning Out so they were on a deadline)

and here it comes - wait for it....you are about to hear the greated comeback ever - drumroll please....

Jeremiah to Avery "No Daddy I'm Mama and (voice gets 10 decibels higher) I'M IN CHARGE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(please give me bonus points for not laughing when this was said)

For those of you who had any doubts I guess we know who the lead dog is around here!

Jeremiah says....

I'm stealing a page from our friends Amanda and Gabi here and I have also taken a suggestion from multiple friends who recommended I start a diary of funny things Jeremiah says (thank you Miss Diane and Miss Georgeann). Here are three for your enjoyment....

scenario: riding in the car with PawPaw and MawMaw. MawMaw is venting over one of Great-Grandmothers doctors and going on for sometime (or so apparently Jeremiah feels)

MawMaw: (sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher) whompwhompwhompwhomp
Jeremiah: Hey hey hey MawMaw - just give it a rest.
MawMaw: Jeremiah that is not very nice and you shouldn't say that to other people. :)

scenario: Jeremiah is walking through our den just as a commerical for Billy the Exterminator comes on and Billy says "Holy Crap!!!!"

Jeremiah: Mama what did Billy say?
Mama: I'm not going to repeat it but it wasn't nice and we don't say it.
Jeremiah: What did Billy say Mama?
Mama: Okay Jeremiah I will say it but you need to understand that it is not nice and we don't say it. Billy said "Holy Crap" which is NOT nice and we DON'T say it!

Later at dinner Jeremiah looks at me and says, "Mama why can't we say Howdy Crab?"
Mama (after I pick myself up off the floor from laughing) Jeremiah you CAN say Howdy Crab to any crab you meet.

scenario: I am doing dishes in the kitchen with arms up to my elbows in dishwater and I hear suspicious sounds coming from the bathroom. The potty chair is moving around quite a bit and there is water running.

Mama: Jeremiah what are you doing?
Jeremiah: whomp whomp whomp whomp (Charlie Browns teacher again)
Mama: Jeremiah I can't hear you what are you doing?
Jeremiah: (says something at decibel level to high to be understood.)
Mama (dries off her hands and starts towards the bathroom) Jeremiah Avery Gosney I asked you what you are doing??!!
Jeremiah (jumping out of the bathroom and placing right hand on his hip and shaking finger at me) I tell you one time and I tell you two times I AM CLEANING OUT MY POTTY!!!!! and I don't want to have to tell you again (walks away shaking head and muttering, "I tell you over and over again)

Its soooo humbling to see your three and a half year old do such a great impression of you - lets me know EXACTLY what I look like when I tell him the same thing.

Future Olympian and Toy Story Spokesperson

Well let me say just one thing - Jeremiah loves two things exceedingly! One is .... Toy Story and the other is the water. We hear Toy Story, Woody and Buzz all the time and depending on the day he is either Woody or Buzz. Miss Carol at Mom's Morning Out tells us she doesn't know which he is but he always lets her know as soon as he gets there. He is working on writing his name and can print J-e-r-e so hopefully m-i-a-h is not far behind and he loves singing his ABC's. He also loves singing "Jeremiah was a Bullfrog" and entertains people everywhere we go with his rendition of it. I had to change some of the words to fit for him - instead of wine his version has juice etc. I am not sure 3 Dog Night would be impressed but it works for us!

We went to visit Jeremiah's "Great" Uncle Steve for his birthday (I won't say which one out of respect for the elderly) but they have a pool and Jeremiah immediately made himself at home in the pool. He is actually starting swim lessons on July 10th but we were happy to see he enjoyed the water so much!!! He is off to a good start even before the first lesson. He is also starting karate classes this coming Saturday and he is running around the house karate chopping and yelling "He Yah" very loudly. Please say a prayer for us as I am not sure we are ready for this but he is very excited about both! I am including photos of him with his fave Toy Story friends and his Toy Story tent and the pool at Uncle Steve and Aunt Jackie's.

Its Official

Well we returned from Avery's driving competition on Saturday and we had a message on our answering machine. I am starting back to school!!!!! I have been unemployed for over a year now and even though I am enjoying the time with Jeremiah and watching him grow we have been looking into schools we want to send him to and I need to go back to work in order to send him there. Soooooooo - I have decided on a career change and I am going back to school to prepare for that! Its exciting since I haven't been in a classroom in a long time but I am looking forward to it! I will only have to be in class one day a week for 6 hours but then I will basically be doing labs the other 4 days of the week!!! This is a career that hopefully will allow me to work out of my house so that I can be available when Jeremiah gets home from school but we are thinking that by the time I finish training I can then start working and be ready to work from home in a couple of years when he is in school. Everyone please say a prayer for us since as I said its been a long time since I have been in a classroom!

On another note Jeremiah finally got a haircut the day we left for the competition and it was a fight all the way but my hat is off to the woman who cut it - despite all his fussing and yelling he has a very nice haircut AND she told him to come back and see her again! Now if we could just get him to let us trim his fingernails and toenails......

We are working on the potty training but its been an uphill battle all the way - there are so many other things he would rather do. He will go to the potty and use it but he is just as likely to do it in his big boy pants. We have been told to take him out of training pants and put him in regular underwear - anyone have any suggestions? Please feel free to chime in!

He is growing like a weed and wants to take karate classes but they have said not until he is potty trained so we are hoping thats incentive! He is big into Woody and Buzz and Buzz has a karate chop function so hopefully classes will entice him to use the potty (I have heard girls are easier than boys and it MUST be true because everyone I know that has little girls agrees that they weren't this hard to train!). I hope we won't be packing him off for college with clothes and depends!!!!!!

Jeremiah in the snow

Well we have had some snow here in the month of February and I have a few photos of Jeremiah in the snow. Our Christmas photos are lost forever it appears due to a malfunction with our memory card so all we will have of this Christmas is our memories of Jeremiah finding his "Christmas". He was so excited and kept saying "I got new toys and got to keep the old ones too!". He has gotten very expressive and we are hearing so many things these days - it is like there is something new everyday. He told me the other day that I needed to be quiet because he had something to say - please. We also hear "I DO IT MYSELF!!!!!!!" all the time! He has very definite ideas about things and he is sure he is at least 20 something! He wants to be a big boy so bad!

He is obsessed with "Toy Story" these days and all we hear is he is either "Woody" Jeremiah or "Buzz" Jeremiah. How funny!!!! He also celebrated a birthday in January and we had bad weather on his birthday. We are hoping there is better weather for his "Gotcha" day!

I am still job hunting - have had some interesting interviews in the last month but nothing yet. We are grateful to everyone who has been praying for us - as of today I am officially unemployed for one year and God has blessed us richly by taking such good care of us. We pray daily for his continued benevolence. I pointed the other day that since Jeremiah came into our lives I have spent less than 4 months working. Several people have said that apparently God has intended for me to have this time and truthfully I have enjoyed spending this year with him - I know it is time I will NEVER regret. Please everyone continue to keep us in your prayers.
